Kidnapped baby tests positive for coronavirus, 22 including police quarantined in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: An 18-month-old baby who was kidnapped and then rescued by the police has been tested positive for coronavirus. Soon after the reports turned positive, the police, media persons and others who came in contact with the infant have been put in quarantine.
The tests were conducted after the police handed over the baby to the child welfare department on learning the mother was an alcoholic and could not take care of her child.
The baby has gone missing on Tuesday night while he was asleep beside his mother. The 22-year-old woman, a pavement dweller found her baby went missing and approached the police. The police rescued the baby from the prime suspect, 27-year-old Ibrahim. The police said that Ibrahim kidnapped the boy as he wanted a son after he had lost all male children born to his wife due to some illness.
The accused was arrested and the child was handed over to the child welfare department. After the infant tested positive, the policemen, mother of the child, the man who kidnapped the boy and two journalists have sent to quarantine.
