Kishan justifies special measures in J&K

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy on Saturday said steps were taken to deal with any situation arising out special circumstances prevailing in the aftermath of abrogation of Article 370.

Addressing the media here, he said certain special measures had been taken against the backdrop of the irresponsible statements being made by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

But, it was not easy for anyone to sabotage the efforts as the people were united. However, measures were taken to deal with any eventuality.

Kishan Reddy said it was unfortunate that some political parties were seeing the abrogation of Article 370 through a political prism instead of viewing it from the point of national interest.

The decision, which was long due, had been taken to protect the national interest. He said the decision would help the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

It would address the issues concerning farmers, youth, women and other sections in the State. It would help create jobs, welfare and development of people.

He said there was no curfew in J&K and the prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC had been lifted in several places across the valley on Saturday.

Extending Eid wishes to the people of the valley, he asked there was no untoward incident and valley was peaceful and people can celebrate Eid as usual.

Responding to a question, Kishan Reddy said people of J&K are breathing freely after 70 years of suppression under Article 370.
