KLIP a boon for farmers: Errabelli

Bhupalpally: The TRS government's mission to irrigate one crore acres has begun, the Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao said, pointing to the inauguration of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

The Minister who inspected Kannepally pump house and Medigadda barrage on tuesay "KLIP is Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's brainchild and the whole credit goes to him for conceiving such a huge project that set to drench the fields of Telangana," he said.

Terming KLIP as a model irrigation initiative, he said that it has become a beacon for the other States in the country.

The farmers are huge beneficiaries of the KLIP. The farming sector which was in doldrums during the days of combined Andhra Pradesh would get a fillip with the project, the Minister said.

The project is also catering to the drinking and industrial needs in the State, he added. He said the fisheries industry would also be benefited by the Kaleshwaram project. On the other hand, Mission Bhagiratha, the State government's flagship programme, is to quench the thirst of all the households in the State, he said.

During his visit, the engineers explained about the components of the project and the progress of works.

The minister was accompanied by legislators Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, Challa Dharma Reddy, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district collector Vasam Venkateshwarlu, Zilla Parishad chairperson Jakku Sriharshini and Peddapally ZP chief Putta Madhu.
