Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy back in Congress

Update: 2020-02-23 06:39 IST

Hyderabad: With changes in the political fortunes of the parties, Munugodu MLA from Congress Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy has returned to the parent organisation much to the relief of his brother and MP from Bhongir Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.

Rajagopal Reddy is taking active participation in the electoral activities of the party. He strived hard for the success of party candidates and party supported candidates in the rural, urban local bodies and in cooperative society elections.

He has also joined the Congress Legislature Party as he attended the meeting of CLP. He was critical of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi and he is likely to work for the party.

Rajagopal Reddy who was elected from Congress from Munugodu Assembly constituency in 2018 elections, has maintained some distance from the party just a month after the conclusion of the poll process.

After maintaining distance from the party, he indicated that he would join the Bharatiya Janata Party in June, last year.

The MLA went to Delhi and tried to meet the senior leaders of BJP. During that time, he said that by remaining in the Congress, he was unable to do justice to people who voted for him and hence he decided to switch loyalties to the BJP.

Rajgopal Reddy reiterated that only the BJP can be an alternative to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and he believed that BJP has a bright future in Telangana.

He said the Congress could not come to power in Telangana due to the mistakes committed by party in-charge for Telangana, RC Khuntia.

"Those who could not even protect the Leader of Opposition are talking of issuing a notice," he said reacting to Khuntia's statement that disciplinary action will be taken against him.

With this the Pradesh Congress Committee has decided to issue show cause notice to him, and he was served with the notice. Even in the reply to the notice Rajagopal Reddy continued his tirade against the party.

However, since two months he started to participate in Congress activities actively.

He worked along with his brother Venkat Reddy in the municipal and cooperative society elections. The Congress has put up a good show in these elections and revived the part in old Nalgonda district. Rajagopal Reddy has also boycotted the meeting being held by the Chief Minister on Pattana Pragathi along with his colleague Congress MLAs.

The return of Rajagopal Reddy to Congress has come as a big relief to his brother and MP from Bhongir K Venkat Reddy. The MP was unable to answer the questions on his brother's revolt against the party.
