Kothagudem: KTPS Chief Engineer caught accepting 3 lakh bribe

Kothagudem: The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Thursday arrested Chief Engineer (CE) Anandam of Kothagudem Thermal Power Plant here in his office on Thursday at Palvoncha while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from a contractor.

According to ACB officials, the Chief Engineer of KTPS 5th and 6th plant demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh for clearing bills of a contractor who had taken up maintenance works worth Rs 71 lakh. The contractor of Vahini Engineering Works gave Rs 2 lakh for clearing the bills.

However, when the CE demanded for remaining Rs 8 lakh, the contractor approached the ACB, who laid a trap to catch the corrupt official. The ACB officials caught the CE while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 3 lakh from the contractor, seized the money and arrested him.
