Kothagudem: Special officers appointed to monitor Pattana Pragathi: Ajay Kumar

Kothagudem: Transport Minister P Ajay Kumar has directed the District Collector to appoint special officers for each ward in municipalities in Kothagudem district to monitor Pattana Pragathi programme.

He stated 50 special officers have been appointed for 50 municipal wards under the limits of the Khammam Municipal Corporation. Since Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) head office is in Kothagudem civic body, the Minister said steps are being taken to make use of District Mineral Foundation Trust funds.

The Minister along with Zilla Parishad chairman Koram Kanakaiah, MLA Vanama Venkateswar Rao, municipal chairperson K Seeta Lakshmi and others has taken part in Pattana Pragathi here on Friday. He planted saplings and interacted with public on the occasion.

Addressing a public gathering, Ajay Kumar has informed the public that Pattana Pragathi was not just a 10-day programme, but it should be continued in order to develop the towns in all aspects.

The participation of residents is must for the success of the programme.The residents have to take initiative to maintain cleanliness, developing greenery in their wards and avoid littering the streets.

Better sanitation would lead to good health of people, he added. Women groups should try to create awareness among the public in that regard, the minister explained.

Garbage collected during the cleaning process has to be shifted to dumping yards, he suggested. Ajay Kumar instructed the electricity officials to remove and relocate power transformers which are obstructing vehicular traffic on roads. Damaged electric poles should be replaced immediately, he told officials.

All the civic problems identified under Pattana Pragathi have to be addressed, he added. District Collector MV Reddy, Additional Collector K Venkateswarlu, Municipal Commissioner A Sampath Kumar and others were present.
