KTR directs babus to educate people on new Municipal Act

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Wednesday urged the officials to make people aware of the new Municipal Act.

The Minister was chairing a review meeting with the higher officials of the MAUD here on Wednesday. The officials explained to the Minister the schemes being taken up by the government and also the progress in those programmes.

The Minister asked the officials to take the administrative reforms taken up by the government to the people, especially the new Municipal Act brought by the government. "When people understand the intensions of the government, there will be transparency among the officials and this would lead to awareness in the administration," said KTR.

The Minister said a meeting of the Commissioners of all the municipalities would be convened to apprise them of the intensions of the government with regard to the new Act.

CDMA T K Sreedevi explained about the reforms taken up in the municipalities such as LED streetlights, parks, layouts, saving open spaces, open gyms, crematoriums. She requested the Minister to consider taking development works in the populated areas in municipalities.

MAUD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar explained about the HMDA plan. GHMC, water works, Metro Rail and other officials were also present.
