Minister KT Rama Rao

"We stand in solidarity to the ongoing protest against privatisation of Vizag steel plant," said Telangana IT and Industries minister KT Rama Rao. The minister took a dig at the Prime Minister Narendar Modi stating that the Modi government could also privatise the state governments.

The minister said that the steel plant through SAIL would be set up in Telangana which can provide employment opportunities to thousands of unemployed youth. However, the situation in Visakhapatnam is different as the centre is trying to sell the steel plant completely.

"The centre's decision would make thousands of employees homeless and the Telangana government would safeguard them. The Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would go to Vishakapatnam to extend direct support to the protest if necessary," the minister said adding that the next thing would be BHEL and Singareni after the steel plant to be privatised.

Massive protests erupted in Visakhapatnam with the centre announcing the privatisation of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), better known as Vizag steel plant.
