KTR gears up machinery for massive green drive

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) MinisterKT Ramarao on Monday said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will launch the 6th phase of Haritha Haram on June 25. "The government has fixed the target of 2.5 crore saplings plantatation in GHMC area. About 700 tree parks and 75 Yadadri model plantations will be taken up in GHMC jurisdiction. Yadadri model plantation should be taken up on all government lands including Osmania University, Central University, NGRI and Endowment lands. To improve greenery in the state, the Chief Minister has set a target of 230 crore saplings to be planted across the state in a phased manner," KTR informed.

The Minister was holding a review meeting on the implementation of Telanganaku Haritha Haram (TKHH) programme with corporators and GHMC officials here on Monday. He directed them to involve locals and residential welfare associations to ensure more number of saplings are planted. He asked the corporators to create whatsaap group for proper implementation of tree plantation and to prepare green action plan in their respective divisions by June 30. "Corporators should visit every house and distribute saplings as per the requirement of households. They should take plantation of mosquito repellent plants along bunds to reduce mosquito menace in that area and herbal and medicinal plants to minimise bad odour. Each division should have two nurseries," he added.

Ministers T Srinivas Yadav and Ch Malla Reddy, Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, MP Ranjith Reddy, MLCs MS Prabhakar, Shambipur Raju and Yegge Mallesham, MLAs Devireddy Sudheer Reddy, Kaleru Venkatesh, Muta Gopal, Danam Nagender, Bethi Subash Reddy, KP Vivekanand and Sayanna, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar, District Collector Swetha Mohanthy and others were present.
