Laser gun to restrict speed in Adilabad

Adilabad: Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier inaugurated speed laser gun at Devapur checkpost under Adilabad rural police station limits on Tuesday.

The SP said many people are dying in road accidents due to over speed. Also. innocent people also losing their lives due to speeding vehicles. Since speed is the main cause of several accidents, police are using sophisticated technology in the suburban areas of metro cities and on the roads on the outskirts of districts to control the speed of the vehicles. The speed laser gun will check the speed of the vehicles passing through the 'y' junctions, where normally the vehicles speed will be more. The speed gun will calculate the speed based on Doppler theory. The challan will be sent to the vehicle owner as a phone message even before the vehicle goes 200 meters away from the spot.

The fine for overspeed is Rs 1,400 and more. The SP said police will conduct awareness camps on speed laser guns.
