Leopard on prowl triggers panic among villagers in Sircilla

Telangana: The forest officials have issued an alert warning the people not to venture outside during night after a lorry driver captured the footprints, suspected to be of the leopard on Friday. The pictures were widely shared on the social media platforms which triggered panic among the people.

As the footprints were found near Bugga Rajeshwara Swamy temple, people are scared to visit the temple and the nearby places. The lorry driver took the pictures near the culvert that is being built to shift water to upper manair.

Soon after the pictures went viral, the forest officials launched an inquiry and warned the people residing in Yellareddypet, Veernapalli and Konaraopet not to come out of their houses during nights. Bapiraju, section officer at the forest department, Akkapalli confirmed the movement of the leopard.

It may be recalled that a leopard was caught in the net at Rajapeta village of Marriguda mandal of Nalgonda district. Later, it escaped from the net and injured the two forest officials when the latter tried to catch the animal. Two hours after the rescue operation, the officials caught the leopard after tranquillizing it. However, the leopard died while being shifted to Nehru zoological park in Hyderabad.
