Karimnagar: Dharti Bachao, an NGO, founder-president Mohammad Azam opined that including lessons on Padma Sri awardee Vanajeevi Ramaiah in school curriculum will inspire the students and help them in knowing the importance of greenery in nature.
He attended as a chief guest at the seminar on 'Environmental Protection-Role of Students' organised for students of Government School at Chintakunta village in Karimnagar on Monday.
Speaking at the seminar, Mohammad Azam said that recognising the efforts put by Vanajeevi Ramaiah in protecting the trees, the government has included his life story as a lesson in Social Studies for 6th standard students. They will get inspiration after knowing how much efforts Vanajeevi Ramaiah had put in saving the trees and will also take steps in their life for saving trees and protect the environment.
Students from their school days must participate actively in programmes like Haritha Haram and Vanamahostvam and must plant saplings and also must protect them. They also must acquire knowledge about natural resources and must conserve them, Azam advised. School principal Narayana Swamy, teachers Ramadevi, Umadevi and Parsharamulu were present along with the students.
