Nirmal: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is distributing Bathukamma saris to the women of BPL (below poverty line) families across the State as an elder brother, stated Forest and Environment Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy.

He distributed saris to the eligible women of wards 3, 4, and 5 at a programme at Kanyaka Parameshwari Temple in Nayuduwada street in Nirmal on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Reddy said the State government has been distributing Bathukamma saris as a gift to the women in Telangana after the formation of separate State. 1,11,000 sarees in Nirmal constituency and 30,580 saris in Nirmal town were distributed to eligible women, he said.

He informed that several developmental works were completed in Nirmal district. CC roads with an estimation cost of Rs 42 crores, Shyam Ghad forte, Kancharoni Cheruvu, Kadtal, Chincholi B, central lightingworksat Dharma Sargar and walking track have been completed so far.

The Minister said that water connection to eachand every house will be given at a cost of Rs 1 only and Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Beema, free current and pension have been provided to eligible farmers, which never took place earlier, he said.

Zilla Parishad chief K Vijayalakshmi said the government has been distributing Bathukamma saris in about 100 different colours to women in the State and asked the women to participate in Navratri celebrations by wearing the Bathukamma saris.

District Library Chairman Rajender, Nirmal Market Committee chairman Dharmaji Rajendar, FACS chairman Ramkishan Reddy, district rural development officer, in-charge Municipal Commissioner Venkateswarlu, TRS leaders M Satyanarayana, Medaram Pradeep, Surendar, Nerella Venu, D Srinivas, Akula Ramesh, Anil and others were present.
