Locals allege nexus between officials, encroachers

Update: 2019-03-19 02:29 IST

Quthbullapur: It seems that the officials of Revenue Department and GHMC are working in tandem but not for a good cause.

The official machinery did not move even though the drains at Peddachervu in Suraram, apart from the overflowing from four tanks.

In fact, the encroachers built a wall, which stops the water flowing from one tank to another.

The alleged encroachers are covering all the drains using tippers.

When confronted by the locals, they bluffed that the land belonged to them.

The locals expressed their surprise as to how the FTL (full tank level) belonged to a private person.

They lodged a complaint about the incidents to the Revenue Department officials concerned but no action was initiated till now.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Sunday, the locals alleged that officials were indirectly supporting the encroachers by delaying taking action against them on the pretext of taking part in election duties.

Meanwhile, the construction works near the FTL and buffer zones were going on unabated.

Another example for this is filling of the tank area in Hanuman Nagar, which was not far away from Quthbullapur revenue office.

Even the GHMC officials are also lethargic in focusing on land encroachments.

The Town Planning department officers did not bother when a land belonged to park on Survey No 107 was encroached by private persons.

It is learnt that the officials are trying to settle the issue with the complainant.

The complainant said that he would not give up and would continue fighting until justice was done.

The clout enjoyed by local leaders here does is preventing officials from taking action against big people.

Everyone here is aware that there are obstructions here from one tank to another.

Encroaching on government lands is also similar to a crime.

But the delay in taking action against them on the pretext of serving notices, etc, is indirectly helping the encroachers.
