Hyderabad: After 45 days, wine shop outlets opened in the city on Wednesday and there were long queues witnessed outside the wine shops, some locals has taken help of social media to request the state government to close the liquor outlets till lockdown.

"People are not at all following the social distancing and we can't expect also from them. If revenue is to be generated in this way, we will fall badly. Please generate revenue by owning the vegetable markets and exporting or selling the paddy bought by the government," said Abhinabh, a resident of Jeedimetla.

"Wrong decision was taken by the state government to open the wine shops. People are standing in a huge line and no social distancing is been maintained. We are aware that police are doing their utmost but it will be difficult to stop the hostile mob," said Prashanth, a social worker

"We can always rebuild the economy but we can never revive the dead. The government cannot give priority to the 'Economy ' ahead of human lives and public health. As yesterday only wine shop reopened, we could see people standing in long queues and no one is bothered about social distancing," said G Viswanath, a resident of Meenakshi Estate colony, Jeedimetla.

"After so many days of strict lockdown, the state government has taken the wrong decision to open the wine shop. I humbly request the state government to close down the wine shop. Many poor people for the past many days are suffering due to lack of food but desperate drunkers will take the few amounts which are at homes for groceries and vegetables for buying liquor than for next few days there will be no food for the poor because of no money. While the police are taking strike action in spite of that also no social distancing been followed near the wine shops, " said T Arunjothi, social worker, SCB ward 5.

The opinion of people on twitter

G Srinivas@ Sri Alexander said, " We have put in huge efforts for more than a 40 days in containing the Covid 19. I request you to avoid managing the wine shops this way, at least in Hyderabad and Secunderabad."

Pavan Teja Sripati, @ pavanteja97 said "Decisions to open wines in GHMC has caused this today, there is no social distancing, no 6 ft distance circles to wait in a queue. All our efforts to break the chain will go in vain if this type of meaningless gatherings and the non-functional queue goes on."
