L&T announces Rs 20 lakh ex gratia to kin of Mounika

Hyderabad: The Larsen and Toubro (L&T) construction company on Monday has announced Rs 20 lakh exgratia to the legal heirs of deceased G Mounika, who died of a head injury at Ameerpet Metro Station here on Sunday evening hours.

They also told that the insurance claim will be raised by L & T construction with its insurance company and the entire amount shall be paid to the family members of the deceased as per law and further consider the request of deceased family members to provide a job to the sister of Mounika on the basis of suitability and requirement of L&T on compassionate ground.

Earlier, tension created at Gandhi Hospital mortuary premises where postmortem conducted to the body of Mounika. Family members, relatives and friends of Mounika reached to the mortuary in large numbers due to which police deployed additional number of personnel to take care of the situation.

The representatives of L&T held discussions with the family members of Mounika for several times to make a settlement. The family members of the deceased demanded Rs 50 lakh exgratia, job to the family member of the deceased and the insurance claim amount from the company.

But they did not reach to a consensus over the issue. After the government announcement that the safety and security of the people is the high priority to them and on the instructions of K T Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD), the authorities of L&T completed the settlement of claim agreement with the family members of the deceased.

According to the agreement, the legal heirs of the deceased agreed that they shall not file any claim, criminal action against L&T and its officials.
