Mahabubabad: Call to protect child rights

Mahabubabad: Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Warangal Chairperson Mandala Parashuramulu, who met the Mahabubabad Superintendent of Police N Koti Reddy on Tuesday, discussed about the implementation of child rights. Speaking on the occasion, the CWC Chairman sought the SP to cooperate with the line departments in preventing the malady of child marriages, female infanticides in the district.

Referring to the female infanticide, girl child selling and child trafficking, Parashuramulu said that children are our nation's most valuable asset, hence the onus is on every citizen to protect their rights.

Responding to the CWC chairman's call, the SP assured to organise an awareness programme on child rights in Mahabubabad.

Later, the CWC chairperson inspected the Childline-1098 office and told the staff to work dedicatedly. Employees, who excel in their duties, would be felicitated, he said. Parashuramulu also inspected Daiva Krupa and Asha Bhavan child homes. He interacted with the inmates and elicited information about the facilities. The CWC chairman said that those institutions running childcare units need to follow the norms laid down by the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.

District Childline Coordinator T Venkatesh, child protection officer B Naresh and Poshan Abhiyan Coordinator Shiva were among others present.
