Mahabubabad: 'Space on Wheels' to exhibit launch models
Mahabubabad: The mobile exhibition unit - Space on Wheels - of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will tour the district to share the story of ISRO with the children.
During its two-day programme, the mobile exhibition unit is scheduled to tour Mahabubabad, Dornakal, Kuravi, Maripeda, Danthalapally and Thorrur, starting from Tuesday (March 3). The aim of the Space on Wheels is to impart about space technology and space applications, according to the district educational officials.
The specially designed bus will call at schools across the district to raise awareness about India's tryst with space technology and space flight and the scientists who made all that happen, they said.
"The bus exhibits scale models of ISRO launch vehicles and spacecraft so that students can easily grasp the principles behind them. There are facilities to screen short films on the space theme," Dr V Gurunadha Rao, science communicator, said.
The mobile exhibition unit has models of launch vehicles (SLV, ASLV, PSLV, GSLV), Satellites (polar and geostationary), Vikash Engine, Cryo stage, RLV-RD, NAVIC, ISRO extra planetary missions etc., he said.
Rao said that some of the models are self-explanatory using interactive command base software. It's learnt that the bus is one of six arranged by ISRO as part of the celebrations marking the birth centenary of Vikram Sarabhai, the father of the Indian space programme.
