Mahabubabad: Tweet to KTR brings solace for migrant workers stranded in Udipi

Mahabubabad: As many as 50 migrant workers, who took to twitter seeking help from IT Minister KT Rama Rao, got solace.

The workers, who were stranded at Udupi in Karnataka for about two months due to coronavirus lockdown, on Wednesday reached Mahabubabad in two special buses arranged by Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod.

It's learnt that the workers have managed to post their hardships on the twitter handle of KTR. Responding to their request, KTR re-tweeted it to Satyavathi Rathod asking her to look into the problems of the migrant workers. Following Rathod's directions, District Collector VP Gautham spoke to the Karnataka State officials.

After clearance from Karnataka government, the workers returned to Mahabubabad in two special buses arranged by Rathod. These workers belong to Mahabubabad, Kesamudram and Gudur mandals.

The workers expressed their gratitude to both the governments for bringing them back. Meanwhile, the administration has said that the workers would undergo medical tests before they were sent for home quarantine.
