Mahabubnagar : As the Congress party gears up for the upcoming Parliament elections, political analysts are sounding a cautionary note, suggesting that the party’s strategy may not yield the expected results, particularly in the Palamuru region.

Despite concerted efforts by the Congress high command at the central and state levels to rally support and consolidate its position for victory, ground realities present a starkly different picture. In both the Nagarkurnool and Mahabubnagar Parliamentary constituencies, numerous Congress leaders and MLAs are voicing resistance and reservations regarding the induction of leaders from other parties into the Congress fold at the local level. This internal dissent poses a significant challenge for the party coordinators appointed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to bridge these divides and attract key leaders from rival parties. In Achampet, for instance, local MLA and several leaders at the Sarpanch, MPTC, and MPP levels vehemently oppose the inclusion of prominent figures from the BJP or BRS into the Congress ranks, hampering the party’s grassroots strategy. Ramesh Reddy, an AICC observer and coordinator tasked with wooing leaders from other parties and bolstering the Congress’ vote bank at the Assembly constituency level, acknowledges the difficulty in convincing existing Congress cadres to embrace newcomers. The reluctance stems from fears among old-party workers that new entrants will overshadow them, potentially sidelining their contributions.

The reluctance to integrate leaders from other parties stems from a misconception among local Congress leaders who believe that the party can replicate its Assembly election success without external support. However, the ground reality suggests otherwise, with the BJP gaining momentum and posing a formidable challenge to the Congress’ electoral prospects.

In light of these challenges, political analysts warn that any reluctance or failure in coordinating local leaders effectively could spell trouble for the Congress’ electoral ambitions in both constituencies. Urgent corrective measures are needed to ensure the party strengthens its base and navigates the complex political landscape of the Palamuru region.
