Mahbubnagar: Ahead of festival, Ministers distribute Batukamma Saris
Mahbubnagar: Marking the most significant and popular cultural festival of Telangana—Batukamma Pandugua, Ministers, MLAs, and senior leaders from TRS and officials from all the districts have started distributing the Batukamma Sareess the women across the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district on Monday.
Many women thanked the initiative of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who decided to celebrate the Batukamma Festival officially and felicitating all women by gifting sarees to celebrate the festival by wearing glittering colourful new cloths.
"Batukamma festival is a women festival and it signifies the importance of women folks, who celebrate the festival by arranging different coloured flowers together. We thank for the government for distributing the sarees," said Devamma, a woman from Chinchod village of Farookhnagar mandal, who received Batukamma saree by Shadnagar MLA Anjaiah Yadav.
While speaking on the occasion, the Shadnagar MLA said that the government is committed to protect the Telangana culture and its festivals and therefore it is distributing saris to women to help them celebrate the festival.
"Telangana is formed to protect our self respect and to promote our own culture and festivals. Batukamma is one of our traditional festivals which was ingored under the united Andhra Pradesh. However now we are celebrating it with full fevour and happiness officially," said Yadav. He later inaugurated the construction works of a CC Road in Chinchod villge at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
In Wanaparthy district, Agriculture Minister Singireddy Nirajanreddy along with District Collector Swetha Mohanthi distributed Batukamma sarees to women in ward number 5 in Wanaparthy, Pebbair and Kottakota mandals.
In Jadcherla Dr C Laxma Reddy distributed Batukamma sares to women folks and greeted them for the upcoming festival. In Kollapur of Nagarkurnool district, Beeram Harshavardhan Reddy distributed the Batukamma saris.
In Mahabubnagar, Excise Minister Srinvias Goud along with District Collector Ronald Rose distributed saris to women groups in Timasanipally village and greeted them on the occasion.
