Mahbubnagar: Collector S Venkat Rao asks officials to take stern action against child marriages
Mahbubnagar: District Collector S Venkat Rao directed the officials to monitor child marriages constantly and take strict action against those, who are encouraging child marriages in the district, at a review meeting with officials concerned through video conference from Mahbubnagar on Wednesday.
Giving clear instructing to the officials of police, education and ICDS departments, the Collector directed them to work together in coordination and asked them to conduct regular awareness camps in villages about bad impact of child marriages on the society. At village-level, Anganwadi teachers and local representatives were directed to constantly supervise and monitor incidents of child marriages and must inform to the higher authorities immediately, so that strict action can be taken against the parents of the children for violating marriage norms.
Later the Collector reviewed district-level task force committee on distribution of upcoming Covid-19 vaccine.
As part of this, he said that they have identified 8,574 front line corona warriors in the district, who will be the first to receive Covid-19 vaccine during the initial phase of vaccination.
In another review meeting with tribal welfare engineers at his office, the Collector directed the engineering officials to accelerate works of pre-metric hostels, residential schools and working women's hostels in the district.
Later, the Collector had participated in National Farmers Day programme organised by Agriculture department. He said the State government is implementing various welfare and development programmes for farmers and directed the officials to implement these programmes with responsibility.
Stating that the district reaped good harvest due to adequate rains this year, Collector Venkat Rao as many as 196 procurement centres were set up to procure various food grains and cotton. Rythu Vedikas were constructed in 88 clusters in the district, he added.
