Mahbubnagar: Give wide publicity on cleanliness, greenery, health says Collector Venkat Rao

Mahbubnagar: Stressing that development of Palamuru people is inseparable with three important aspects of cleanliness, greenery and health, District Collector S Venkat Rao called upon the authorities of education department to take up wide publicity with the help of students in rural areas and make sure that the district become synonymous with cleanliness, greenery and healthiness of its people.

Addressing the principals of all government schools in the district at a review meeting here on Monday, the Collector directed all the school authorities to take up cleanliness, greenery and healthcare in a big way. Teachers and students were told to take this campaign to the people not just in urban areas but also in rural areas, he added.

The Collector observed that the main cause of various diseases is because of the non-availability of clean and safe drinking water. However, the State government is supplying tapped drinking water through Mission Bhagirathas.

Collector Venkat Rao said that every day municipal and gram panchayat authorities are regularly collecting garbage and segregating it into dry and wet garbage at the source itself and doing a remarkable job both in the urban and rural areas.

The Collector said every individual irrespective of their region of living must inculcate the habit of developing his own city, town, village, and hamlet. If cleanliness and greenery are achieved, half of the development is achieved as these aspects will improve health conditions of the people.

As part of greenery programme the Collector said this year the government has set a target of planting 1.25 crore saplings in the district.
