Mahbubnagar: Minister urges people to cooperate with officials
Mahbubnagar: Excise Minister Srinivas Goud has inspected the sanitary measures taken up in Ramaiahbowli area of Mahbubnagar district on Monday and later examined the drainage system in the area and directed the municipal authorities concerned to take immediate measures to make necessary repairs. He instructed them to create awareness among the public about the importance of cleanliness.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the State government was giving the highest priority to cleanness and sanitation in rural and urban areas and as part of this, the government had launched the 30-day action plan to ensure that every village as well as colony is kept clean and neat. "The 30-day action plan is mainly aimed at changing the face of our colonies, wards and villages. It is a good opportunity for the public to utilise the chance given by the government and extend a helping hand and cooperate with the officials and develop their villages and residential colonies and keep themselves healthy," said the Minister.
Stressing that 90 percent of diseases are caused due to lack of sanitary facilities, he said, particularly in the rainy season, the stagnant water and overflowing drainage systems are major cause for spreading the vector-borne diseases as they help in breeding of mosquitoes and flies that spread the diseases. He advised the people to ensure there was no stagnation of water in their colonies and ensure the drainages are cleared on a regular basis. He directed the municipal authorities to repair the damaged sewage lines at the earliest.
