Mahbubnagar municipality to install 50 CCTV cameras to monitor littering in colonies
Mahbubnagar: With an aim to make sure that the Mahbubnagar municipality region is kept clean and neat, the municipal authorities have decided to install about 50 CCTV cameras across in all 41 wards in Mahbubnagar municipality region.
According to Mahbubnagar Municipal Commissioner Vadde Surender, the main objective of installing CCTV cameras is to put a check to littering of garbage in the wards.
"As part of 15-day action plan programme in urban and municipal areas, we have been taking up cleaning drives on a big scale in Mahbubnagar municipality. In the past 12 days, we have almost cleaned all the 41 wards in the municipality. However, to continue the same trend of cleanliness, we have decided to keep a constant vigil on all wards to put a check to littering of garbage by the public. For that, the District Collector has given orders to install CCTV cameras and monitor the municipality on a regular basis," informed Surender.
Adding further on the implementation of the urban action plan in the district, the Commissioner said that about 41 special officers have been appointed to supervise the cleanliness drive in all the wards. The municipal staffs are extending their assistance to the special officers in the wards. In addition to these officials, resource persons, health and Anganwaadi workers from each ward have formed into special teams are identifying issues, problems and accordingly, implementing the cleanliness drive.
The Commissioner informed that in the past 12 days, the cleanliness drive has been implemented on a big scale and more than 95 percent issues have been resolved in the municipal areas. With the installation of the CCTV cameras, now the municipal authorities will constantly monitor the garbage littering in every ward and accordingly, post municipal staff to clear the same. The CCTV cameras will also identify those persons who deliberately litter the streets and roads, and such persons would be penalised for not following the garbage dumping norms, the Commissioner added.
