Mahbubnagar: The Prajavaani programme, which was prestigiously taken up by the TRS government aimed at allowing the general public to file their grievances and complaints directly with the top officials of the district, has miserably failed in erstwhile Mahbubnagar district as the turnout of people at the Collectorate during the programme has been on the decreasing curve with every passing day.

The reason for people to lose confidence in the programme is due to large number of pending files that have been piled up unresolved for the last two to three years. The people, who come with a hope of getting their problems heard, are being deprived as the issues remain unresolved despite repeated requests. "Prajavaani has become a programme just to pull crowds. The officials take our pleas and dump them in bins," said Devanna from Jogulamba Gadwal district who had attended Prajavaani for more than five times still with his problem remaining unsolved.

Thanks to the attitude of officials in different departments, the people have lost their hope in the officials and have stopped coming to Prajavaani to lodge their complaints. "I have put a petition with the revenue officials for entering my two acres of land in the Records of Revenue department. However, citing disputes; they have left my land unrecorded in the ROR. I had filed a complaint in the district collectorate under Prajavaani stating that my land has been encroached upon and urged the officials concerned to help restore. Over the last six years my repeated requests have fallen on deaf ears. Prajavaani has turned only into a complaint taking centre and we cannot expect any solution from them," said Devanna.

The people who come from long distances are fed up with the futile programme. They say Prajavaani has been creating more problems rather than solving them

In a case of poor farmer Nenavath Chander in Jadcherla mandal of Mahbubnagar, instead of resolving his issue, the local MRO officials have complicated his woes. "Earlier, they said my problem would be resolved. However, after repeated requests, the Tahsildar's office officials ignored my pleas. Fed up with this, I approached Prajavaani in the hope of getting my issue resolved. However, even they are not ready to get my land records from the revenue database," said Nenavath Chander.

It is alleged that the Tahsildar office officials through brokers were taking money to resolve the issues and if anyone does not pay them bribe, the poor farmers have to make rounds to the offices until they give up. "I had to pay Rs 2,000 to the officials in the MRO office to get my 20 guntas recorded in the ROR," said another farmer from Chinnagutta village of Jadcherla mandal.

As most of the problems in Prajavaani are coming related to land issues, the Collector and MRO officials at the mandal level are not ready to take up the issues readily and because of pending complaints, the people have lost their hopes and not approaching Prajavaani as they did earlier.
