Mahbubnagar: Projects brimming with water lift Independence Day mood

Mahbubnagar: The 73rd Independence Day celebrations have been held on a grand note across the erstwhile Mahbubnagar district on Thursday. In Mahbubnagar district, District Collector Ronald Rose and Superintendent of Police Rema Rajeswari hoisted the flag at the Police Parade Ground and extended their greetings to people on the occasion. Mahbubnagar MLA and Minister Srinivas Goud, MP Manne Srinivas Reddy and others participated in the programme.

Later, the Minister distributed commendation certificates to police officers and meritorious staff of various departments who had exhibited exemplary performance and served the people. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said, "After the formation of Telangana this is the 6th Independence Day is celebrated and in the last six years, we have observed drastic changes with regard to development in all fields like education, health, agriculture, irrigation, welfare, employment and infrastructure across the State. Particularly in Mahbubnagar, we have witnessed the greatest success of completion of pending projects and the launching of Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation project. Once this is completed, the face of Mahbubnagar will be completely changed."

SP Rema Rajeshwari also hoisted the tricolour and greeted the people and informed that the police were working round-the-clock to ensure peace and law and order in the district. In Wanaparthy, Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy hoisted the national flag at the Polytechnic College Grounds and later, distributed certificates to officials who had rendered exemplary services. On the occasion, the Minister also distributed cheques and vehicles to beneficiaries under the State government's self-employment scheme. Wanaparthy Collector Swetha Mohanty and SP Apoorva Rao also attended the programme. In Gadwal district, Collector Shashank hoisted the flag and greeted the people. Later, he visited the exhibition organised by schoolchildren and took part in the cultural programme. Earlier, the Collector hoisted the flag upside down. However, after realising the mistake, the flag was retrieved and hoisted properly again.

In Nagarkurnool, District Collector E Sridhar hoisted the national flag and greeted the people of the district on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector enumerated various developmental activities taken up in the district and said that in a short span of three years of the formation of the district, Nagarkurnool district has been a growth track in all sectors.

In Narayanpet, District Collector S Venkat Rao after hoisting the national flag recollected the sacrifices of great leaders who had fought for the country's independence. However, he said that even after 73 years of Independence, the country was still behind in eradicating poverty and illiteracy. Narayanpet SP Chetana and other local leaders participated in the programme.
