Mahbubnagar: Striking RTC staff conduct mock funeral of KCR
Mahbubnagar: The RTC employees continued their protest in erstwhile Mahbubnagar on Thursday. In Narayanpet district, the RTC employees, who received support from various political parties like Congress, CPI and CPM, teachers union leaders and student unions, along with the supporting leaders played Dandyia in front of Narayanpet depot and later took part in a rally raising slogans against the government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his insensitive attitude towards the RTC employees and their families.
In Wanaparthy district, the protestors took out a bike rally and sat on a dharna at the Dharna Chowk. They received huge support from all opposition parties.
The RTC employees later organised games and played Kolatam and other folk dances and expressed their angst against the government for not heeding to their demands even after 13 days of protest.
In Jadcherla Mandal of Mahbubnagar district, the employees sat near the Ambedkar Chowk and conducted a mock funeral of Chief Minister and later took part in the 'Pinda Pradhanam' programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Jadcherla JAC convenor Paladi Ram Mohan and Borgupally Krishna Yadav said, "During the Telangana movement, the RTC employees gave full support to the movement and got the new State of Telangana.
But unfortunately, even after six years of the formation of the new State, the KCR government has not fulfilled the RTC employees demand of merging the Corporation with the State government. We are deeply hurt as the Chief Minister is not even responding to our strike. We regarded him as dead and conducted funeral programmes."
