Mahbubnagar: With elections over, Congress presses govt for jobs

Mahbubnagar: The Congress party members from Mahbubnagar district have demanded Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to immediately fulfil his promise of providing 1 lakh jobs in the government sector to the unemployed youth in the State.

Speaking at a press meet at the District Congress Committee office in Mahbubnagar on Tuesday, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson G Harshavardhan Reddy alleged that the State government was passing time and not filling the vacant posts in the government sector for the last one year citing one or the other reasons like elections etc. The Congress spokesperson said that since now all the election and election-related process and election code has been lifted, at least now the State government must focus on filling up the vacant government posts in various departments.

"The Chief Minister had promised to provide 1 lakh jobs to the educated youth in the government sector and he even promised to release an yearly calendar of recruitment through Telangana State Public Service Commission. However, in the last six years, the State government could not even fill up 25,000 jobs and it is passing time by citing some or the other reasons. Now that all the elections are completed and people have given a total mandate to TRS, at least now the Chief Minister must focus on filling up of vacant posts in government sector and provide jobs to the unemployed and keep his promise," demanded the TPCC spokesperson from Mahbubnagar.

Reddy also demanded the Chief Minister to allocate funds for the unemployed youth and provide unemployment stipend to all those who are struggling to get jobs and unable to find a livelihood despite having good education qualification. "There are more than 3 lakh youth who have completed graduation in the State and struggling to get jobs. As promised, the Chief Minister must provide unemployment stipend of Rs 3000 to every eligible unemployed youth," observed Harshavardhan Reddy.

Senior Congress leaders Ranga Rao, Mahbubnagar Congress Town president Laxman Yadav, Subhas Katri, Counsellors Sheik Umar, Amjad, Srinivas Reddy, Srinivasulu, CJ Benahar, Saibaba, J Chandrasekhar and others attended the press meet.
