Mahbubnagar: Workshop on wash volunteers held in Palamuru University

Mahbubnagar: With an aim to provide awareness about cleanliness and hygiene in the villages, the NSS cell of Palamuru University (PU), in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Grameen Vidhya Parishad (MGGVP ) and UNICEF India have organised a one-day workshop at Academic block in Palamuru University on Wednesday.

As many as 30 NSS officers from various colleges took part in the programme. Professor Dr Pindi Pavan Kumar, Registrar of PU, while taking part as chief guest, hailed the efforts of NSS in spreading the awareness on cleanliness, importance of washing and keeping surroundings hygienic. "Particularly in the villages, the youth must come forward and spread awareness on the common issues of washing, clean water and keeping hygienic conditions. The NSS volunteers must go in the villages and register students as 'wash volunteers' and through them launch the awareness programmes in their respective villages. PU is always ready to become part of such novel programmes to improve the conditions in the villages and ensure a healthy society," the PU Registrar said.

During the workshop, the NSS organisers and representatives of MGGVP and UNICEF India urged their respective NSS officers to enrol more students and register them as 'Wash Volunteers' and launch the clean and hygiene programme in the villages and spread awareness among the villagers about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene. Kishore Kumar Paidipally, Wash Consultant, Banala Prabhakar, Project Director of (MGGVP ) and UNICEF India, Dr Anuradha Reddy, NSS Palamuru University Coordinator, Dr Arjun Kumar and others took part in the programme.
