Maintain hygienic conditions at quarantine centres: High Court to government

Hyderabad: A division bench of the Telangana High Court headed by Justice MS Ramachandra Rao directed the Telangana government to maintain hygienic conditions at the quarantine facility centres to house the international passengers.

The hearing was taken up on a public interest litigation by the High Court based on a news item published in an English daily, seeking adequate facilities in the premises notified for quarantine facility centres to house the international air passengers and mandatory 14 days to assess their health condition with a view to curb the spread of epidemic disease coronavirus.

Advocate General, BS Prasad informed the bench that all the facilities have been provided by the state to the international air passengers who are being facilitated in the quarantine centres. Hygienic conditions are being maintained, including toilets and all the other areas at the centres.

The Advocate General also informed the court that most of the passengers have left the quarantine centres after assessing their health condition of 14-day mandatory period. The High Court considered Advocate General BS Prasad's submission.

Plea to social distance immigrants disallowed

M/s Container Technologies Pvt Ltd, an IT firm represented by its director Anand Kumar Seethala moved the High Court with a PIL seeking directions to the Telangana government to consider availing services offered by the petitioner through its IT solutions for tracking the immigrants who entered India on or after February 1, for effective monitoring and for social distancing the immigrants to avoid the spread of 'Covid-19'.

The division bench headed by Justice MS Ramachandra Rao has not considered the plea of the petitioner to hear the PIL, instead, advised the petitioner to place his wish before the state government first.
