Major shake-up in police department on the cards

Hyderabad: After a major rejig of IAS officials two days ago, the reshuffle of top brass in the State Police department including senior most IPS officials is on the cards.

Speculations are rife that Hyderabad City police Commissioner Anjani Kumar is likely to be shifted and a full time TSRTC (Telangana State Road Transport Corporation) Managing Director (MD) will also be appointed.

Reports say that Warangal Zone Inspector General Y Nagi Reddy's name is under consideration for the post of RTC MD which is vacant for a long time. Currently, State Secretary to Roads and Buildings department Sunil Sharma is heading the corporation.

Cyberabad police Commissioner VC Sajjanar and Rachakonda Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat may continue in the posts. The chiefs of other police commissionerates in Telangana- Karimnagar, Khammam, Nizamabad, Ramagundam , Siddipet and Warangal are likely to be transferred and shifted to other wings.

Sources said that the government is also likely to appoint new head to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB). Currently senior IPS officer J Purnachander Rao is heading ACB and he will be given an important assignment in the police department.

Several senior officials in State Intelligence and district Superintendents of Police (SPs) will also be transferred. State DGP has finalised the list of the IPS officials to be transferred and is waiting for Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's nod.

" Many senior IPS officials were continuing in some posts for years and they will be transferred as per the service rules," a senior official of the state Home Department said.

It is learnt tht some officials working in the districts pleaded with the government for transfer to the State capital due to some personal reasons. After taking all the issues into consideration, government will issue the transfer orders of the police officials.
