Make BC as PCC chief: V Hanumantha Rao
Hyderabad: AICC secretary V Hanumantha Rao on Friday said that a leader from the BCs should be made president of the Pradesh Congress Committee to bring down Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao from the post.
Speaking to the media, he said that during the regime of D Srinivas as president of PCC, the Congress came back to power. He said that he has a goodwill among the people and if he is made PCC chief he would bring Congress back to power in the state.
He said that age could not be a bar to hold political offices. Sheila Dixit was made PCC chief of Delhi at the age of 82 years. He was not bothered about who would become the Chief Minister but was concerned about bringing Congress into the power.
He said late Indira Gandhi had implemented several welfare programmes for the uplift of the weaker sections in the country. He said the Congress had distributed land to landless poor in the country and nationalised all the banks.
He reiterated he would abide by orders of party supremo Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi throughout his life. Rao also said Sonia Gandhi had also implemented several pro-weaker sections policies like Indira Gandhi.
