Man attempts to rape 5-yr-old, held in Wanaparthy

Wanaparthy: Police arrested a 40-year-old man for attempting to molest his neighbour's 5-year-old daughter in the city on Sunday.

According Wanaparthy police, the accused identified as Jagannadha Reddy, was residing besides the house where a 5 year old girl child was staying. He attempted to molest the little girl when no one was there in her house.

The Wanaparthy police said they had received a complaint of molestation and they acted immediately and arrested the accused Jagannadha Reddy. "We have arrested one person named Janardhan Reddy and booked a case under POSCO Act and will take a stringent action against him," said Circle Inspector Surya Nayak.

It is said Jagannadha Reddy is a habitual drunkard and had seen the little girl playing in the house alone. He lured the little girl to the top of his house and later tried to molest the little girl. The frightened little girl raised an alarm. Hearing her crying, the neighbours rushed to the spot and caught hold of the culprit and handed him to the police.
