Man booked under PD Act, sent to jail for smuggling of PDS rice: SP Apoorva Rao

Wanaparthy: A man, who was caught repeatedly for illegally transportation of the Public Distribution System (PDS) rice, the Wanaparthy police booked cases under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against the person and sent him to Cherlapally jail for 6 months on Tuesday.

According to Wanaparthy Superintendent of Police Apoorva Rao, the person (name not revealed), who belonged to Amarchinta mandal was a habitual offender and every time he was booked for illegally transportation of PDS rice was left off after giving a warning.

However, as the person was habituated to earn money through illegal means and was beyond the limits of self-reformation, the Wanaparthy police booked as many as seven cases and took the person into preventive detention under the PD Act.

"We have booked a person from Amarchinta under PD Act for his repeated violation and resorting to illegal transportation of PDS rice. In spite of booking 7 cases against him, the person never shown any sign of reformation and he was continuing to violate the government norms and involving in illegal transportation of the PDS rice.

So, we have booked him under the PD Act and sent to Central Jail in Cherlapally," said SP. Apoorva Rao said the police is having the responsibility of protecting the safety of the people and at the same time it's also bestowed with the responsibly of protecting the property of people and the government. "We are now focusing on people, who are trying to mislead others and through fake businesses amassing money by fooling gullible public.

We have also received complaints from customers relating to adulteration of daily use items sold in grocery stores and other shops. The police is always on high alert and will not hesitate to take action against anyone, who violates the law," said the SP.
