Man held for duping Hyderabad surgeon of Rs 1.4 Cr
A Surgeon based in Hyderabad was duped of Rs 1.4 crore by Mumbai man identified as Chamarthy G Pattabhiraman. The police said that the accused was caught in West Marredpally of Secunderabad.
Getting into details, the accused befriended the victim through a common friend and assured to give him a share of 24 per cent in profits of his Kolkata-based fertilizers company and asked him to invest Rs 1.4 crore.
The accused also said that he had taken permission from West Bengal government and showcased the for forged documents to make the victim believe. Trusting him, the surgeon transferred the money in 2017. However, the surgeon approached the police two months ago after the accused stopped responding to the victim's calls.
The police nabbed him from West Marredpally on Thursday and has been sent for questioning.
