Man kills his wife in Mulugu
Mulugu: The police on Wednesday found the body of a 25-year-old woman on the fringes of Venkatapuram mandal headquarters in Mulugu district. The woman has been identified as Subbalakshmi, wife of Thota Ramesh. The police said that the murder took place on Tuesday night and they suspect her husband Ramesh had killed her. Presently, he is at large.
According to the police, a pesticide bottle, a knife, liquor bottle and chicken curry in a bowl were found on the spot. However, the police are yet to ascertain how Subbalakshmi was killed. Prima facie evidence based on the presence of foam around her nose and mouth suggests that she was poisoned.
Inspector K Shiva Prasad and Sub-Inspector G Thirupathi inspected the scene of offence and gathered key evidences. The police shifted the body to Eturnagaram Government Hospital for postmortem.
According to locals, Ramesh, who works as a private driver, is used to harass his wife. Unable to bear the harassment, Subbalakshmi has been staying with her parents along with her two children in Chokkala.
Against this backdrop, Ramesh convinced his wife to live with him on Tuesday. Later, he took her to a secluded location and had allegedly killed her. It's learnt that Ramesh informed some of the villagers that he had killed his wife. The villagers discounted his utterances initially as he was used to do so whenever he was drunk. However, they informed about it to Subbalakshmi's parents.
The police launched a massive search and found her body on Wednesday morning. The police registered a case and launched a search for Ramesh. Meanwhile, the locals said Ramesh in an inebriated state had even poured petrol on his house to set it ablaze some time ago. But the neighbours prevented his attempt by tying him up to a tree.
