Man kills wife with an axe in Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: A man allegedly killed his first wife with an axe and fled from the spot at Gurukonda village of Devarkadra mandal in the district on Tuesday.

According to Devarkadra Police, the accused was identified as Kondaiah. He married Mannemma, his first wife, 10-year-ago, however as she could not conceive, he married other women identified as Renuka and was making a living by working as a labourer. Over the time he became addicted to alcohol and used to blackmail his first wife for money. He allegedly used to mentally assault her for not being able to conceive and fleece money.

On Monday, when Kondaiah's first wife went to her maternal home for a vacation, he visited Mannemma. As she refused his demand for more money, Kondaiah took an axe and hit her on the head due to which she died on the spot.

The police who reached the spot found Mannemma in a pool of blood and shifted her body to Devarkadra government hospital for post mortem. They booked a murder case against the Kondaiah. "It is learned that Kondaiah, is an alcoholic and killed his first wife with a sharp object.

We have secured all the necessary clues and launched a man hunt for the accused. We will soon arrest him and conduct a detailed investigation and will ensure the culprit gets punished as per the law," said Devarkadra Sub Inspector Venkateshwarlu.
