Hyderabad: Cybercrime police of Central Crime Station (CCS) on Wednesday remanded one Shaik Ismail, who threatened Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy on phone. Earlier, on Tuesday the officials arrested him and shifted him to cybercrime station.

The accused is a resident of YSR Kadapa district. He went to Kuwait in 2017 and was working as a car driver there. He used to watch speeches, news and controversial news about political leaders on social media platform.

After watching Kishan Reddy's speeches, the accused developed a grudge against the MP and later searched for his contact number on internet. The accused made threatening calls to Kishan Reddy by posing as an anonymous person.

Kishan Reddy filed a complaint with the cybercrime police on June 12 in which he stated that on May 20 he received threatening calls on his phone from one anonymous person. The police registered a case under section 66 D ITA Act-2008 and section 506, 507 IPC and took up investigation.

When the accused communicated with the other persons using the same phone number the police identified him. On receiving information that the accused was coming to India to visit his native place YSR Kadapa, the police intercepted his movements and on Tuesday night arrested him. The probe is on.
