Mancheiral: On this Ganesh festival, everyone should use clay Ganesh idol to protect the environment, Green Core district officer and national best teacher award winner Gundeti Yogeshwar urged the people. Under Green Core, along with the members, he released wall posters to create awareness on Plaster of Paris Ganesh idols and how it will harm the environment at Mancherial Boys High School on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, he urged the people to offer puja to eco-friendly clay Ganesh idol and not to use idols made with POP and chemicals, to help the environment. He wanted the government to create awareness with environment clubs on how to make clay idols in the government schools.

The immersion of POP idols will kill fish and other living organisms in ponds, lakes and other water sources.
