Hyderabad: Places of learning shall shun bigotry and narrow mindedness and promote tolerance and liberal thinking.
The atmosphere of increasing hatred and suspicion is a challenge for Urdu University, MANUU shall prepare caravan of love to spread the message of tolerance & peaceful co-existence. Dr Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, today advised the newly admitted students to focus on the all-round development of personality during their stint at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU).
Dr. Parvaiz was delivering the introductory lecture after inaugurating 6 day long Students Induction Programme (SIP) being organized by the office of Dean, Student's Welfare. He made it clear that unbridled freedom without the sense of responsibility, spells doom.
MANUU being an Urdu University gives preference to Madarsa pass outs and students from Urdu medium school during admission, he said.
Addressing the jam-packed auditorium at Directorate of Distance Education, Dr. Aslam Parvaiz quoted extensively from the Holy Quran to draw home his point. He described the Quran as the perfect manual for all-round personality development. Knowledge makes human being reformist instead of anarchist. He also advised the students to be polite and flexible, to facilitate the learning process. Rigidity is the sign of death.
Asking the students to be proactive in achieving their goals, he pointed out that laggard and lazy people often possess a negative attitude. The Vice-Chancellor also introduced various facilities and centres of the University through a powerpoint presentation.
Prof. Syed Alim Ashraf, Dean, Student's Welfare provided the details of the SIP. Mr. Anis Ahsan Azmi, Chief Consultant, Centre for Urdu Culture Studies welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.
