Warangal: The biennial Medaram Samakka- Saralamma Jatara, touted as the Asia's largest tribal fair, would be organised between February 5 and 8 in 2020, according to the tribal priests.

According to them, the jatara would begin on February 5, 2020 with the arrival of Goddess Saralamma, Pagididdaraju and Govindaraju to their altars at Medaram.

On February 6, the Goddess Sammakka will be brought to Medaram from Chilakala Gutta. Both the Goddess will be present on their altars on February 7, considered as the most auspicious, and they will re-enter the forest on February 8.

More than one crore devotees from Telangana and the neighbouring States are expected to visit Medaram.

President of Medaram Priests (Vaddelu) Sangham Siddaboina Jagga Rao, general secretary Chanda Gopal Rao and other members who met on the precincts of Sammakka- Saralamma temple in Medaram on Friday revealed the schedule.

Meanwhile, Mulugu district administration is striving hard to ensure permanent facilities for the devotees rather than relying on makeshift arrangements.

The administration has decided to acquire 100 acres land as per the plan of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. It may be recalled here that during his visit to jatara in 2018, KCR had promised to transform Medaram so that it would be cynosure of all eyes.
