Medical colleges must create awareness on health issues in villages: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu
Hyderabad: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has said that the Centre and States should concentrate on providing quality public healthcare facilities.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a free medical camp organised by Swarna Bharat Trust, in Hyderabad on Sunday, he said that the medical colleges should organize visits to nearby areas and villages and conduct awareness campaigns and health camps on disease prevention and adopting lifestyles.
Observing that people tend to neglect their health and taking basic precautions, he said that many a time they incur huge medical bills for treatment of ailments.
Hence awareness on disease prevention is extremely important as prevention is better than cure, he stressed.
Pointing out that sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy dietary habits are leading to increase in non communicable diseases, he said that regular physical activity should become part of daily routine for everybody, irrespective of age.
Governor of Telangana, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, former Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr Kamineni Sreenivas and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
