MG varsity students plant over 1000 saplings in Nalgonda

Nalgonda: Mahatma Gandhi University Registrar M Yadagiri stated that it was everyone's duty to plant and protect saplings that in turn protect people from rising temperatures and regulate the derailed seasons.

On Wednesday, NSS students of the varsity in association with the Council for Green Revolution, an NGO, planted over 1,070 saplings of 15 varieties on university premises under Haritha Haram programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Registrar informed that university campus got pleasant environment due to plantation drives carried out by different educational institutes, NSS units, NGOs in the past five years under Haritha Haram programme.

Organiser of the NGO Leela Laxma Reddy asked the students to treat the saplings as family members and protect them till they are on their own.

The NGO has supplied over 15 varieties of plants that included lime, coconut, pomegranate, sweet lime, bamboo, banana etc.

NSS coordinator Dr D Ramesh informed that as many as 10,000 saplings were planted during last year's Haritha Haram programme. So far, this time they have planted over 3,000 saplings on the university premises.

Principal of varsity's Commerce and Management college Dr Sri Laxmi, Aruna Priya, Upender Reddy, Alwala Ravi, Suresh Reddy, Akula Ravi, John Paul, Jayaprakash Narayana, Pranathi, program officers Machender, Madhu, Ramesh and NSS volunteers took part in the programme.
