M Harathi murder case: Activists demand fast track court for trial
Hanamkonda: Several organisations led by the MRPS staged a protest demanding the State government to set up a fast track court to deal with the murder case of Munigala Harathi, who was killed by her friend recently. The parents of Harathi have also participated in the one-day deeksha organised by MRPS Warangal district president Manda Raju.
The protestors found fault with the government for not initiating any action to speed up the case. "It's apparent that the government has been showing biased approach if the victim belongs to SC, ST and BC," they alleged. The protestors alleged that there was no proper response from the political parties also.
It's been three days since the molestation and murder of Harathi took place, however, the government appears to be insensitive, the protestors said. They threatened to launch an agitation if the government fails to set up a fast track court. They also demanded the government to rescue the victim's family. Stating that the government had failed to curb crime against women, the protestors emphasised the need for bringing in changes in the legislation.
Harathi parents demanded the government to punish Md Shahid, who killed their daughter. Mahajana Socialist Party national spokesperson T Pradeep Goud, Lambada Hakkula Porata Samithi (LHPS) leader Eashwar Singh Naik, BC Rakshana Samithi State president Edunuri Rajamouli, Velupula Suri, Boddu Dayakar and Burri Sudhakar were among others present.
