Mineral cess collection lesser than the target in Nizamabad
Nizamabad: District Mines and Geology Department is lagging in revenue earnings. The target of revenue collection was not reached except in the 2015-16 financial year.
There are only 60 quarries left in the Nizamabad district after the resurgence. Large-scale granite will not be given on leased but small-scale ore will be given on lease up to 60s. They are quartz one, feldspar 2, color granite 15, road metal 38 and gravel four and revenue on these is not as expected.
Mineral Cess is set to raise Rs 35.63 crore in the fiscal year 2019-20. As of August 31, revenue is expected to be Rs 12.47 crores. But in reality, the Government Exchequer got only Rs 5.53 crore. Due to economic resection and construction of projects, and the reduction of Chinese granite purchases, the granite sector is becoming a sick industry.
The target for the financial year 2014-15 was Rs 21.03 crore, with a revenue of Rs 15.02 crore. The target for the financial year 2015 -16 was Rs 26.63 crores and for the 2016-17 financial year was Rs 28.24 crore, with a revenue of Rs 20.59 crore.
The target for the financial year 2017 -18 was Rs 21.97 crores as against the target of Rs 25.97 crores.
The target for the 2018-19 financial year was Rs 27.11 crore, with a revenue of Rs 26.14 crore. This shows that the income of the mines department is likely to decline significantly.
