Minister Jagadish exhorts people to make Suryapet greenest district

Suryapet: Minister for Education G Jagadish Reddy called upon people of the district to participate in the 5th phase of Haritha Haram programme voluntarily to transform Suryapet as the greenest district in the State.

On Tuesday, along with District Collector Gaurav Uppal and Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Jagadish Reddy participated in the massive plantation drive near Mission Bhagiratha plant located at Immampet village of Suryapet mandal.

He informed that with the cooperation of people, particularly students the city crossed the target of planting 1.50 lakh saplings on a single day (Tuesday). Government has took up Haritha Haram as a prestigious programme and it is duty of everyone to get fresh air by planting and protecting saplings on the premises of their houses and vacant places.

He explained that the country has covered with 33 percentage forest area , where as State had 26 percent and district had 2.4 percent forest land which is 10 times less than the State forest coverage.

Statingt that drastic changes in environment have been taking place due to poor forest coverage , he urged the people to handover ancestor properties with grown trees for the better future of next generations

In this programme, ZP chair person Gujja Deepika , ZP CEO Vijaya Laxmi , RDO Mohan Rao, former municipal chairperson Pravallika, MPPs, ZPTCs, villagers and students in large number participated.
