Trimulgherry: Residents of P&T Colony, here are a harried lot. Due to lack of basic amenities, life in the colony has become uncomfortable, say residents. Problems like irregular water supply, ill-maintained parks, garbage strewn all-over and non-functional street lights, are plaguing the residents.

The colony comes under the Secunderabad Cantonment Board jurisdiction under Ward No 5. Irregular water supply is one of the most vital issues faced by the locals. Residents are get water once in 4-5 days and also the pipelines became old and rusty.

The colony has three theme parks (Children Park, Rock Garden and Triangle Park). Lack of maintenance has led to the thick growth of vegetation. Recently, locals spent Rs 60,000 for renovation the children park. The other two parks need immediate attention from the SCB.

Locals are reeling under the darkness due to dysfunction of street lights. It is completely dark in the evenings and causing inconvenience to the commuters to pass through the area.

Apart from this, garbage is not cleaned by the workers. Even if they come, they just dumped it on the roadside. The careless dumping of the garbagelead to mosquito menaces.

"We are forced to face all these civic issues, as SCB never listens to our suffering. Several times we approached the concerned officials about the irregular supply of drinking water. They say, would solve the issue very soon but no action is taken yet. Also, the internal roads are in bad condition and need to be recarpeted," said Janardhan, General Secretary of P&T Colony.

"We have received several complaints about the civic issues of this colony from the residents. We are trying to solve them as soon as possible," said Rama Krishna, SCB ward member-5.

"The main reason for irregular water supply is that the pipeline has become old. But, three years back new pipelines were laid," said N Surya Shashank, assistant engineer (civil), water and street department, SCB.
