Hyderabad: Renewal of registration of Shine Hospital, L B Nagar hangs in balance in view of the fire accident that killed an infant and causing injuries to several others.

This hospital's registration is set to expire on November 24, 2019. With just over a month to go for the due date, the hospital witnessed a tragic incident.

Two paediatricians-Dr V Sunil Kumar Reddy (MD) and Dr Sunil Pawar got registration for Shine Hospital from Ranga Reddy DMHO on November 25, 2014. The registration shall be in force for a period of five years from the date of issue.

The then DMHO Dr C Venkatapathi okayed the registration application of the hospital management and accordingly it was registered under the provisions of AP Allopathic Private Medical Care Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, 2002 to provide specialty and diagnostics (Basic Lab) facilities.

Medical experts stated Monday's fire accident and findings and police probe will impact registration renewal process.

"Health department is probing whether there was any gross negligence or intentionally neglected or did not give importance to certain things that might have caused the mishap.

Also, they would assess any shortfall of eligible criteria. On the other hand, FIR has been registered on infant's death and police probe is also going on," pointed out a senior doctor, who has the knowledge of private practices and required registrations and permissions from government authorities.

All is not lost for the hospital, he said, adding that if the hospital feels that department was delaying its registration renewal process on any ground it can approach court and puts its point of view to seek an extension after the November, the expert explained.
