MLA Colony residents raise a stink over location of hospitals
Hyderabad: Residents of MLA Colony, Road number 12 in Banjara Hills, staged a protest against the functioning of three hospitals in their colony.
Holding placards, residents, including women, of different ages staged a protest on the road for three hours from 9 am till 12 noon on Saturday.
Police reached the spot and appealed to the colony residents to withdraw their protest.
According to Paduri Karuna, BJP spokesperson, who also is a resident of the colony, three private hospitals, including a cancer hospital, were functioning in a residential colony in violation of norms.
" We have complained to six government wings including GHMC, Fire Department, PCB about parking woes, footpath encroachment, disposal of bio-medical waste etc. and pursuing the issue for the last one year. Till now no action has been taken," she said.
According to the colony association members, police have assured them that a top GHMC official will visit the place to take stock of the situation in the colony.
